I visited Ann Marie not to long ago and she sure looks good. She was in her wheelchair and up and going. It was nice to see her smile. She said things are definetly frustrating but she is truckin on. She said the boys are enjoying the part where they get to pick out her clothing. She sometimes has to send them back ;)
Things are moving along and the plan for us is to go to the movies together in November to see NEW MOON.
Can't wait!!

Ann Marie is looking forward to going home on Wed August 12th. She is really working hard in her physical therapy sessions at Health South in Reading so she will be ready.

The staples are out of her right leg and she is moving it more everyday. I am sure she is anxious to be able to put weight on it in a month or so - hopefully not too much longer.

Mason has been counting the "sleeps" until Mom comes home. (how many nights she needs to sleep at the rehab hospital) I know everyone will be so glad to get her home!

Ann Marie went to Reading Hospital this morning and got her staples on her right leg taken out. The staples went from her hip to below her knee except for about 4" in the middle of her thigh. She can now start working on bending her leg more and moving her hip too.

Her wrist is broken and she got a "cute blue cast" on it today. She says she can still scoot herself off the bed and into the wheelchair with one arm! Only Ann Marie!!!

She is enjoying lots of visits now that she is closer to home and feeling so much better.

I wanted to correct something from my last post. I said Ann Marie didn't remember anything before last Tues - I meant she didn't remember anything from the time of the accident until Tues the 28th. Her mental faculties are perfect except for the first 8 or 9 days after the accident.

The poor baby now just found out she has a wrist fracture! She is scheduled to go to Reading Hospital tomorrow for follow up on her legs and I guess they will take care of her wrist then.
I am worried that that might put a damper on her getting out of bed into the wheelchair since she has to put all her weight on her wrists!

After more than 2 weeks of sponge baths in bed she finally had a shower yesterday!!! And got her hair washed in the shower with real shampoo! We should all be grateful for the little things in life!!!

Monday morning, hopefully around 11 am, Ann Marie will be moved to Health South in Reading for rehab to practice getting from her bed to the wheelchair and bedside comode. She has made great strides in the last 5 or 6 days. Boris was shocked Sunday morning when she was able to get in and out of bed w/o help. She is determined to do what needs to be done and more!

Every nurse and CNA that had been off work for a few days came in to her room cheering and clapping for Ann Marie because of the major improvements since they last saw her. Her head injury is healed completely as far as we can tell. She doesn't remember anything before last Tues the 28th. And she had a few minor moments of confusion on Tues and Wed but none since then. Her eye movement is great and the area around her eye looks so much better than it did and is healing well.

Her sternum and rib injuries are still very sore especially since she has to use her upper body to move around. She no longer has the stabilizer on her right leg and is on the machine to bend her knee slightly for half the day.

Her vision is still not back to where is was in her right eye but that could still improve over the next few weeks.

She is scheduled to be in rehab for 7 days but Boris says he doesn't think she will be there that long. She has mastered most of what she needs to learn already. When she can put weight on her right leg in 6 weeks or so and then 3 months for her left leg she will need more therapy to learn to walk again.

Her left foot injury is called Lisfranc fracture-dislocation which is very rare. The drs seemed pretty excited to work on one.

Ann Marie is still improving. Boris, he is her Russian physical therapist who tells them he is from the KGB, helped Ann Marie get herself over into the chair from her bed. It took about 20 minutes but she did it. Her broken ribs are still painful when she moves around.
The Drs took her off the IV and the pain pump.
Her Sodium levels are still improving
Her Drs said that she can not put any weight on her right leg for six weeks and no weight on her left leg for six months.
So her next step is Rehab which she will probably be moving sometime by the end of this week.
AnnMarie's sisters are staying by her bedside. Her sister Lori, from Florida has just left and her sister from York, Joan is back and taking over. AnnMarie is hoping to take over this blog when she gets to Rehab and gets her laptop.

The reports are all good this morning!!!! Ann Marie's surgery on her left foot went extremely well on Monday afternoon. She had a really rough night and the surgeon came to her room twice to check on her. The swelling was causing terrible pain that even her pain pump would not help but after ice packs and elevating her foot higher Ann Marie was able to sleep for a few hours.

This morning (Tues) she is alert and aware and wants to understand everything that is going on. She still has some confusion etc but we are seeing much progress. The physical therapist had her up sitting in a chair this morning!!!!! For quite a while all her strength and effort will have to go to trying to do her therapies and healing so we will keep praying for her.
